Signature Hole – The 451-meter par 4 18th is the signature hole and an accurate tee shot is required to avoid the bunkers on the left and the trees on the right. The large live, half-fallen oak lurks on the right.
Played to a green protected by a pond and bunkers is a nerve tester.
An exclusive course to guests of Beau Rivage only and a must-play layout.
This genuine test of golf for the good player can also be enjoyed by all skill levels due to the 5 tee options available.
The course meanders through lakes, streams, marshlands, and century-old oaks.
Pecan and Magnolia groves add to this majestic setting.
2. The Preserve Golf Club | The Preserve

Signature Hole – The 411-meter par 4 18th is the signature hole and is an uphill dogleg to the green, protected by water and bunkers.
Played over a ravine off the tee, the attacking approach shot is a thriller.
This is a stunning layout with a good variety of holes and doglegs to challenge all skill levels.
Tree-framed fairways, waste areas, deep bunkers, forced carries and plenty of water will require good strategy and shot-making to keep a decent scorecard.

3. The Grand Bear | Grand Bear

- Length: 6,585 meters off the Tips and 5,154 meters off the Front.

Signature Hole – The 551-meter par 5 5th is my choice of signature hole and is both the longest and toughest on the layout.
Get the distance correct to the front and carry over the hazard that bisects the fairway, to put the ball in a good position for the approach shot.
A mediocre approach will leave a very testing putt on this large, tricky green.
A Jack Nicklaus signature course that will excite everyone stepping up to play here.
Tall pines flank the fairways and the natural Cypress wetlands, coupled with the Little Biloxi and main river that meander through the course, are intimidating.
Accuracy off the tee opens up good scoring opportunities, but conversely, stray shots are severely penalized.
The multi-tiered greens add to the challenge.
4. Windance Golf Club

- Length: 6,033 meters off the Tips and 4,918 meters off the Front.

Signature Hole – Unable to establish the signature hole but the 502-meter par 5 18th is my choice.
A dogleg right off the tee and play to the fairway center.
A genuine 3- shotter for most, so lay up to your favorite wedge distance, and with a good approach, have an opportunity to make a birdie.
The course combines a challenging layout with beautiful scenery and the rolling fairways are generous.
A blend of tough and not-so-tough holes where water can create a problem if not judged well.
The rough can be penal, so keeping it on the short stuff will help the scorecard.
The greens are great but can be very slippery.
Will be enjoyed by all who play here.
5. Shell Landing Golf Club

- Location: Gautier, Mississippi.
- Par: 72
- Length: 6,420 meters off the Tips and 5,074meters off the Front.
PLAYER RATING
4 tee options available.
Signature Hole – The 377-meter par 4 6th is the signature hole.
A tee shot over marshland to a water-protected fairway on either side.
The approach needs distance control to fly the pond in front of the green.
The natural water usage and the wetlands are spectacular as the course weaves its way through the forest.
Doglegs, bunkers, and water hazards lurk throughout the track, and accuracy and shot placement are well rewarded.
The sloping topography ensures that flat lies are not the norm.
6. Ole Miss Golf Club

- Location: Oxford, Mississippi.
- Par: 72
- Length: 6,439 meters off the Tips and 4,432 meters off the Front.
PLAYER RATING

Signature Hole – The 530-meter par 5 14th is the signature hole that plays to a dogleg right fairway from the tee.
Water lurks on the right-side fairway and distance control and accuracy are required for the 2nd shot to set up a birdie opportunity.
This course is close to the university and the design and layout are friendly yet challenging.
Wide-open fairways tempt the player to open the shoulders and let the big dog lose.
The front 9 is flat while the back 9 uses the undulating terrain to good effect.
7. Cherokee Valley Golf Course | Cherokee Valley

- Location: Olive Branch, Mississippi.
- Par: 72
- Length: 6,180 meters off the Tips and meters 4,491 off the Front.
PLAYER RATING

Signature Hole – The 142-meter par 3 7th is the signature hole and plays from the tee over water to a large contoured green.
Framed by tall trees the green has a large bunker in the front.
Dramatic elevation changes are a characteristic of the layout.
The course wanders through 53 bunkers, 11 lakes and looks rather intimidating from some tees.
Contrary to this the wide-open fairways and light rough can be attacked by a golfer confident with the driver.
8. Tunica National Golf & Tennis

- Location: Tunica Resorts, Mississippi.
- Par: 72
- Length: 6,123 meters off the Tips and 5,269 meters off the Front.

Signature Hole – The 405-meter par 4 18th is my choice of signature hole and is a demanding and picturesque hole.
Plays to a dogleg left off the tee, with the approach shot over water, to a bunker protected green.
A public course with gently rolling fairways with generous landing areas, allows all skill levels to participate and enjoy.
Don’t be distracted by the beauty as there is plenty of bite in this layout.
Plenty of water on the track and used effectively but not too restrictively for the mid-handicap.
Greens are fast and true.
9. The Oaks Golf Club

- Location: Pass Christian, Mississippi.
- Par: 72
- Length: 6,404 meters off the Tips and 4,863 meters off the Front.
PLAYER RATING

Signature Hole – The 178-meter par 3 7th is the signature hole and don’t be fooled by the view.
It plays across water that is ever-present on the right and the narrow green complex is a difficult target, especially if the wind blows. A front bunker lies in wait.
The bailout area is short and left.
An exceptional layout set within native wetlands and huge timberlands.
The meandering routing is scenic and strategic bunkering and beautiful green complexes provide a good challenge.
The tall trees create obstacles throughout and are penal to stray shots.
The course is highly rated.
10. Wedgewood Golfers Club

- Location: Olive Branch, Mississippi.
- Par: 72
- Length: 6,273 meters off the Tips and 4,437 meters off the Front.
PLAYER RATING
5 tee options available.
Signature Hole – The 400-meter par 4 5th is my choice of signature hole and is also the index 1 on the card.
It plays to a dogleg right fairway and the approach is over water.
The bold will attack the green and the rest will layup and rely on a chip and putt for par.
A creative layout with water featuring on many of the holes.
It is a testing course for the good golfer as a strategy is required to place tee shots and club selection.
Playing from the forward tees still allows the mid to high handicap to make it interesting.

1. Club at North Creek

PLAYER RATING
An interesting layout for all skill levels.
Trees, water, mounding and native grasses incorporated into some tough doglegs are features of this track.
2. Lake Caroline Golf Club

- Location: Madison, Mississippi.
PLAYER RATING
Designed around Lake Caroline, this links-style course is a great test and very scenic.
Like most links, distance and accuracy will help the scorecard.
If in the area a must-play.
3. The Bridges Golf Club at Hollywood Casino

- Location: Bay St Louis, Mississippi.
PLAYER RATING
An Arnold Palmer designed masterpiece laid out on the wetlands of the Bay of St Louis, the track features some great holes.
Anytime the opportunity strikes to play any of Anies courses, it should be taken.
Final Thoughts
Mississippi may not have the largest choice of courses to play in the USA, but the diverse nature and top condition of the courses on offer will satisfy everyone.
