The choice of the 10 best golf courses in Oregon, can be subjective, but stats generally give an accurate overview.

Signature Hole – The 332-meter par 4 16th is the signature hole and although short, can show its teeth.
Play for the top fairway and take the gorge and the deep gulley out of play.
Bandon Dunes is set on a high bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
The course rolls through pristine native dunes offering stunning views and a challenging layout.
It is a thinking man’s track and the rugged, tough rough is penal.
Doglegs, raised greens and gnarly bunker fringes, deep pot bunkers, cross bunkers and lengthy carries off the tee will keep the stress level up.
Throw in the large waste-type areas and take it on!
2. Bandon Dunes | Pacific Dunes

Signature Hole – The short 135-meter par 3 11th is the signature hole and a genuine “postage stamp” green awaits.
The green is surrounded by gorse, bunkers, and native beach grass.
Just hit the green and don’t try a cute shot.
Pacific Dunes is a shot-makers delight and very different from the other courses on offer at the facility.
Rolling fairways play through high natural dunes, shoreline pines, and rugged bunkers.
The wind can create havoc with the scorecard and the spectacular holes are a tough test of golfing skill.
Short by modern standards but rugged enough to disturb all.
3. Bandon Dunes Golf Resort | Bandon Trails

- Length: 6,205 meters off the Tips and 3,599 meters off the Front.

Signature Hole – The 297-meter drivable par 4 14th is the signature hole and is an exciting hole.
Take the risk and leave a very short iron into the smallest green on the track.
Play safe with an iron off the tee and increase the difficulty of the approach.
Good luck!
Bandon Trails start on top of a large sand dune then flows into an open meadow.
The elevation changes up into the coastal forest and the final holes finish back in the dunes.
The vistas can be distracting but are beautiful.
Playing this track in the wind, with undulations, natural grasses, and well-placed rugged bunkers will challenge the best.
4. Sunriver Resort | Crosswater

- Length: 7,023 meters off the Tips and 5,654 meters off the Front.

Signature Hole – The 630-meter par 5 12th is the signature hole and is a monster.
It plays in a semi-circle around the river on the left and forest and bunkers on the right.
The green is tucked away to the left.
Scary!!
Crosswater is a long and tough layout set in a high desert meadow.
The average length of the 4 par 5s is 567 meters.
The course plays around the Little Deschutes River that meanders through the property and comes into play with the wetlands often during the round.
The 17th is a beast of a par 3 at 222 meters into the prevailing wind!
Play from the forward tees to enhance the experience and challenges instead of being “beaten up” by the track.
5. Bandon Dunes | Old Macdonald

- Par: 71
- Length: 6,347 meters off the Tips 3,393 and meters off the Front.

Signature Hole – The 332-meter par 4 7th hole is the signature hole and the emphasis is more on the 2nd shot than from the tee.
Factor in the wind, and elevation change to get the distance right.
Reminiscent of an old Scottish Links, this course will test the ability to manufacture shots to get around with a respectable score.
The wide fairways encourage the player to hit the driver off the tee but beware of the hazards that lurk.
Angles for the approach shot are the dominating factor in attacking the greens.
The wind, deep bunkers, and natural grasses should all be factored into any shot during the round.
Sloping, undulating greens challenge the putting skills through the track.
6. Pronghorn | Nicklaus Course

- Par: 72
- Length: 6,745 meters off the Tips and 5,484 meters off the Front.

Signature Hole – The 345-meter par 4 13th hole is the signature hole and plays around a lake on the right side of the hole.
A pot bunker sits in the middle of the fairway and the approach to the green surrounded by water and sand is a nervy shot.
The picturesque waterfall at the back will compensate for a bad score on the hole.
A Jack Nicklaus design desert location course presents an interesting challenge.
Risk and reward holes beckon, but the natural scrub and grass are penal.
Elevated tees and greens increase the difficulty and the emphasis on accuracy.
Larva rock outcrops are incorporated into the layout and the vistas of Mount Bachelor, Broken Top, and Three Sister volcanoes, are stunning.
Bring the A-game and if the driver is misbehaving, expect a long day at the office!
7. Tokatee Golf Club

- Location: Blue River, Oregon.
- Par: 72
- Length: 6,243 meters off the Tips and 5,708 meters off the Front.
PLAYER RATING
2 tee options available.
Signature Hole – The 355-meter par 4 5th is the signature hole.
It plays fairly straight forward and hitting the fairway off the tee is a must.
4 large strategically placed trees guard the entrance to the green.
Straight is good.
A scenic layout that the medium to high handicap can enjoy, but testing enough for the good golfer to take up the challenge from the tips.
Tree-lined open fairways start the round, but the course does tighten up during the middle holes and undulations, doglegs, and the bunkers keep the player in check.
Water, in the form of natural streams and ponds, lurks throughout the layout, but only affects the way wood shots.
The large undulating greens hide no secrets and are generally easy to read.
8. Tetherow Golf Club | Tetherow

- Par: 72
- Length: 6,671 meters off the Tips and 6,357 meters off the Front.

Signature Hole – Unable to establish a signature hole, but the elevation changes and bunkering on the par 3s, would get my vote.
Elevation changes, natural scrub and grasses, and plenty of pot bunkers keep the golfer honest through the round.
Moving the ball both ways in the air will be an advantage.
The large waste-type areas and water hazards are to be avoided to keep a score going.
Mastering the contoured, sloping greens is a game on its own.
9. Indian Creek Golf Course

- Par: 72
- Length: 6,613 meters off the Tips and 4,605 meters off the Front.
PLAYER RATING
4 tee options available.
Signature Hole – My choice of signature hole is the 454-meter par 5 4th.
The fairway slopes right towards the hazard and pin-point accuracy is required on every shot.
Indian Creek is a great test of golf for all skill levels.
The course moves through tree-lined fairways with a few narrow landing areas calling for accuracy.
Natural slopes and undulations, pot-style bunkers, and blind shots test the ability of all players.
3 creeks meander through the track and come into play on 11 holes.
It is a shot-makers delight and the wind just adds the edge to the difficulty.
10. Running Y Ranch Resort | Running Y Ranch

- Par: 72
- Length: 6,525 meters off the Tips and 4,904 meters off the Front.
PLAYER RATING

Signature Hole – The 140-meter par 3 5th is the signature hole on the course.
Although short in length, the green is surrounded by water with a stonewall as the backdrop.
Good club selection is the key to scoring a birdie or a par.
An Arnold Palmer design set at high altitude and using the natural topography to carve out this course.
The ball flies, so distance is not an issue, provided the accuracy element required is present.
Risk and reward holes tempt the bold player and the lakes, tall tree-lined fairways, creeks that meander through the layout all impose their challenge.
Strategically placed bunkers need to be negotiated to score well here.
The vistas are a distraction, but this course can be enjoyed by all skill levels.

1. Langdon Farms Golf Club

PLAYER RATING
The goal at Langdon Farms is to maintain the driest golf course in the region.
Rolling through gentle undulations and slopes, the course is playable by all skill levels.
Mounds and white-sand bunkers well-distributed throughout the layout, fill the small tree-framed fairways.
2. Eagle Point Golf Club

PLAYER RATING
A top-class layout that has limited water hazards and forced carries could be a favorite for the social golfer.
The doglegs are challenging and accuracy with the driver will create opportunities for birdies.
The greens are smooth and even-paced.
3. Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club | Witch Hollow

PLAYER RATING
Set on beautiful farmland, the tree-lined fairways and native grasses lurk everywhere ready to catch the stray shot.
The gentle slopes add character and the course can be attacked provided playing from the fairway.
Great for all levels of golfer to enjoy.
Final Thoughts:
Choice of where to play will probably be the toughest decision for any golf fanatics that tour this State.
When the golf is off, the scenery will compensate.
