Charlie Woods’ Driver — TaylorMade Stealth Plus
Charlie Woods used to go old school with his driver. The TaylorMade SIM series he used until 2022 was discontinued some years ago when the brand upgraded to the SIM2 line in all the stores now. You can probably only find these clubs used now, which is fine because he’s recently shifted to the newer TaylorMade Stealth Plus driver for teeing off.
Woods has not revealed how he has his angles set up on this driver, so it’s hard to know exactly how he’s using it. The TaylorMade Stealth Plus driver is a sturdy, solid performer on the tee, allowing more forgiveness than previous models. It is less adjustable than the M5, but I haven’t found that to be an issue when I have a setup I like.
This can be a decent upgrade from your starter club if you find one secondhand and within your price range. It’s not likely to turn up in the hands of absolute beginners, but there’s still a decent place for this one in the bag of a new or intermediate golfer.

Charlie Woods’ 3-Wood — TaylorMade Stealth Plus
Charlie Woods’ old 3-wood, the TaylorMade SIM Max, was all the rage in 2020, which was the year both the clubs and Charlie Woods launched onto the world of golf. Today much of the hype for the clubs has faded since the basic lack of adjustability gets in the way of most pro golfers who are finicky about how they’re set up on the fairway. I haven’t minded this myself, but I’m not playing at the Masters.
Woods upgraded in 2022, when he gave up his older SIM for the Stealth, which is a massive big hitter with a solid, satisfying thunk on contact with the ball. It has a relatively hefty head that puts a lot of energy into speeding up the ball, which shows great aerodynamics as a result. It’s also tremendously forgiving, thanks to its advanced composite construction, and it looks cool.
The TaylorMade Stealth and Stealth Plus line of woods may not be the hot new thing this season that it used to be, but this is still a really good choice for the just-above-newbies set; casual players and intermediates who would like solid, all-around decent clubs that don’t take too much fiddling to dial in.

Charlie Woods’ Irons — TaylorMade P7CW
What irons does Charlie Woods use? Solidly built and looking like forged structural steel, the TaylorMade P7MC irons are a very pricey choice for a young golfer, though Charlie Woods can probably afford to tote his custom version out onto the links.
These recently replaced his older P7MCs, but the principle and the playthrough are basically similar. Both look really good and feel like a million bucks in the hands and the confident swing that feeling inspires ends with a forgiving drive into or out of any trouble you may be in with your lie.
The irons do disappoint a little bit with the auditory feedback since they make contact with a quiet little thud and then seem to regret having troubled you with it.
The cavity-back design of the TaylorMade P7CW lends a lot of forgiveness to the swing, and you can play around a lot with your technique with these before you start to suffer penalties with it. This makes them a fantastic choice for intermediate or improving golfers who may not know what they like in a set of irons yet but know they want to look really good and keep their options open while they play.

Charlie Woods’ Wedges — TaylorMade MG2
Charlie Woods has been getting himself out of sand traps with a TaylorMade MG2 since the beginning of his public career in 2020. It’s a steady and workable club that feels pretty good in the hand, but it is in no way an exciting wedge to reach for.
Despite its raw face and a few other features you’d think would improve performance in the clinch, it has a very average spin.
The tall heel and straight leading edge of the TaylorMade MG2 give it the aesthetics of a box truck, except the wedge size is smaller than average and can play tricks with you in a sand trap if you don’t know exactly what you’re doing.
Overall, it’s odd to say it, but this might be the perfect wedge for Charlie Woods and only Charlie Woods. The player I imagine this club appealing to the most is a younger golfer who knows his stuff and has a lot of talent, who doesn’t feel the need to show off, but who can handle some of the trickiest performances you’ll get out of what should be a simple problem solver of a wedge.

Charlie Woods’ Putter — Scotty Cameron GSS Prototype (Similar Putter)
This was the third club Woods picked up for the 2022 season and kept in his bag for 2023, replacing the TaylorMade Spider X he began touring with. The Scotty Cameron “Timeless” series is an attempt at tour-only class with a solid interpretation of the Anser 2 head shape everybody has loved for decades.
The feel of this putter in your hand is excellent, with the weight down where it belongs. This is a prototype, and availability is limited. Still, if you can find one and are the kind of golfer looking for the Scotty Cameron marque, you’re probably experienced enough to use it.

Charlie Woods Grips — Ping PP58 (Blackout) and Golf Pride Tour Velvet
Woods favors two grips on the links: a Ping PP58 (Blackout)Â for his putter and a Golf Pride Tour Velvet for his other clubs. Both of these are remarkably downmarket for the son of arguably the most successful golfer in history, but there’s logic in this. Both are time-tested and very popular grips, with the PP58 legacy stretching back to the ’70s, and the Tour Velvet is a modern upgrade to the fourth generation in its line.
The PP58 is a rubber grip in a standard pistol shape that helps square the putter’s face at the moment of impact. On the other hand, the Tour Velvets are an off-the-shelf solution to needing extra tape. It’s been my experience that this grip feels like four (or so) wraps under the bottom hand, which just works for me somehow.

Charlie Woods’ Shoes — FootJoy Premier Series Packard
Charlie and Tiger Woods both sported a pair of FootJoy Premier Series Packards at the 2022 Masters, and it’s a nice style touch that probably gave them both a good amount of stability and grip on the grass. Charlie Woods’ golf shoes are made from premium-grade pebbled leather that holds a shine beautifully. They’re cleated, and you definitely feel that VersaTrax+ pattern grabs the green when you swing. There’s not an inch of slip or slide in these shoes, making them a great choice for very experienced golfers like Tiger and younger players at higher risk of injury like Charlie.

Charlie Woods’ Apparel — Nike
Like father, like son. Charlie Woods carries on his father’s relationship with Nike, wearing branded everything on the links. The only occasional exception is his trademark Snoopy hat, which is a fun counterpoint when his father stands beside him in his Nike gear.
