Signature Hole – The 210-meter par 3 15th is the signature hole.

It plays downhill to a two-tiered green.

The right side is protected by tall native grasses and bunkers.

A cliff skirts the left side and “ attracts” golf balls.

Miss either side and a big number will destroy the card.

A breathtaking layout with views that distract the player.

The front 9 plays through red rock outcrops, rolling fairways with natural sand traps and vegetation.

Feels very links-like.

Stepping onto the 10th tee and holes to follow has been described as “playing on the edge of the earth”.

The back 9 plays across a ridgeline with huge elevation changes and tough holes to complete a memorable round of golf.

The 18th is an extremely tough finishing hole and the 19th will be very welcome.

A must-play golf course.

Signature Hole – The 415-meter par 4 7th is my choice of signature hole.

The attacking golfer can go with a risk and reward strategy to shorten the approach shot.

Beware of any hole that carries the stroke 1 tag.

The course rolls through hilly terrain.

Tree-lined fairways with generous landing areas allow for the driver to be in action throughout.

Avoiding the many bunkers strategically placed is the challenge from the tee and around the green complexes.

Only 2 water hazards come into play during the round.

The green complexes are smooth and not too difficult to master.

3. Wasatch Mountain State Park Golf Course | Mountain

Signature Hole – The course has no definitive signature hole, but the challenging variety on offer, will test the good and the higher handicap golfer, to assess their own.

Choose wisely!

A classic mountain-style layout set into the natural contour of the land.

The front 9 weaves its way up the mountain, only to return down to the clubhouse for the back 9.

The variety and challenge of each hole must be appreciated and calculated into the strategy of the round.

Dramatic elevation changes, enhanced by the fantastic vistas, call for shot-making and accuracy to keep the scorecard intact.

The many lakes and ponds lurk throughout the track.

Wildlife abounds and creates a diversion should the golf not be up to scratch.

4. Entrada at Snow Canyon Country Club

  • Length: 6,455 meters off the Tips and 5,095 meters off the Front.

Signature Hole – The 515-meter par 5 16th is the signature hole.

An intimidating tee shot over the lava flow, precision and accuracy are required to play the hole well.

The green is tucked away on the right.

A Jonny Miller-designed track, it winds through residential development.

Water hazards lurk throughout the course, but the feature is the black lava rock formations.

Holes 15 to 17 form part of “Devil’s Triangle” which cuts through the lava flow to create a memorable few holes.

The 18th supplies a magnificent view of the red rock surroundings and some respite after the tough previous holes.

5. Valley View Golf Course

It plays downhill with a pond situated 275-meters off the tee.

The approach has to carry the 90-meter wide pond to a very wide sloping green.

Leave the ball below the hole.

A public course that is very highly rated for its design layout and challenge.

The naturally hilly terrain is walkable and enhances the opportunity to take in the surrounding beauty.

Water hazards, bunkers, doglegs both ways, elevated tees, and tree-lined fairways create a challenge that can be enjoyed by all skill levels.

Tricky large greens make the putter work for pars.

The locals call it a “gem”.

6. Gladstan Golf Course

It plays uphill over a ravine off the tee straight up the canyon.

The narrow fairway calls for accuracy and the 2nd shot approach is the test.

A huge drop-off behind the green is a no-go area.

Distance control will save a big number!

The layout moves through rolling terrain with a variety of challenges on each hole.

The fairways are fairly generous with local trees framing some holes, but not always in play.

45 strategically placed bunkers, 2 creeks, and 5 ponds take care of any misdirected shots through the round.

Be prepared to use every club in the bag.

The green complexes are fair and manageable by all skill levels.

7. Hobble Creek Golf Course

Signature Hole – The 174-meter par 3 4th is the signature hole.

It plays over water to a tree-surrounded green.

Bunkers short and at the back of the green await the misjudged shot.

Set in Hobble Creek Canyon, the tree-lined fairways meander through the layout with the creek brought into play throughout.

The course is not too long and the front 9 features generous fairways and landing areas off the tee.

The back 9 narrows and tightens up and requires accuracy and placement to keep the score going.

The defense of the course lies mainly in the quick sloped greens, which will test putting skills.

Precision approach shots, keeping the ball below the hole will avoid the dreaded 3-putt!

8. Bountiful Ridge Golf Course

Playing from the fairway will ease the difficulty of a tough finishing hole.

A municipal course with a mountainside layout.

Water features throughout the course culminating in the magnificent waterfall behind the 18th green.

The great variety of holes keep the concentration level up.

Native tough rough and scrub oak bushes line the fairways.

Accuracy and distance control will keep the card neat.

9. Eaglewood Golf Course

It plays to a raised semi-island green.

Water surrounds the green from the right side to the back left.

2 bunkers protect the left side.

Not long, but miss the green at your peril!

Set in hilly terrain the natural elevation changes on the fairways and greens provide a stern test.

Fantastic views of Salt Lake are a feature of the track.

The narrow tree-lined fairways require accuracy off the tee and the driver may not be the right option everywhere.

Only 2 water hazards are in play, but the strategically placed bunkers and thick rough protect par.

10. Soldier Hollow Golf Course | Gold

Signature Hole – The 366-meter par 4 4th is the signature hole.

A risk and reward tee shot for the bold player, but the fairway is a must-hit.

Large fairway bunkers lurk and the approach shot requires precision.

Greenside bunkers on either side and the false front place a premium on distance control.

A typical foothills or mountain course with stunning views of Heber Valley and surrounding mountains.

Dramatic elevation changes throughout the layout and on every hole create a fun challenge for all.

Natural vegetation of mountain grasses and scrub oaks surrounds the course.

The front 9 is particularly undulating whilst the back 9 flattens out.

Wind, plenty of bunkers, and tricky fast greens keep the intensity to the end of the round.
