The chances are you have never hit a hole in one before because that is one of the most difficult shots to do in golf. The odds of hitting an ace for us armatures are 1 in 12000. If you have, well done!! Hat’s off to you. Brilliant.
At the young age of only 8, Tiger Woods made his first hole in one. Hard to believe but Tiger Woods did this thus far 20 times in his career some would say that’s luck but no that is professional at its best.
According to Essentially Sports, Tiger Woods turned pro at 20 in 1996 Greater Milwaukee Open. Although Tiger finished tied for 60th, he caught the crowd’s eye on the Par 3 14th hole.
With a six iron in hand, Tiger stepped on the tee box and walloped the ball, the ball landed just below the flagstick where it bounced twice and then made it into the cup. The pure joy on Tiger’s face and the wild cheer of the crowd stunned the Golfing world. Watch the video here.
GolfDigest stated, “Tiger has mentioned before that is just bizarre, but it’s something.” In November 2018, he told reporters that his 20th career hole-in-one was playing with his son at the Madison Club and it took 20 years to get to ace 20. He used a 5-iron from 210 yards on the second hole. Not too shabby.
Woods’ previous hole-in-one was in 1998 during, a former PGA Tour event, the International, In 1996 at the Greater Milwaukee Open during his pro debut he made an Ace and 1997 during the Waste Management Phoenix Open on TPC Scottsdale’s famed 16th hole. But after the three aces in his first three years on tour, Tiger hasn’t had any aces since in competition.
He was hammered throughout his career with knee, foot, elbow, and back injuries. He always got back to the game and made the best of a bad situation. He will always stand out as one of the best and determined Golfers of all time.
According to GolfMagic, “Tiger Woods believes that the amount of running he did during his early years is the cause of his multiple knee problems in his later years. He was using a navy-style workout from the past.”
If you read the report on Wikipedia– you will notice this is an extraordinary Golfing Legend. From his friendly smile to his action after sinking a difficult put to his hole in one’s celebrations.
Will he be back?
On 24 February 2021 Tiger Woods suffered “comminuted open fractures” to both the lower and upper portions of his tibia and fibula in his right leg, as well as damage to the ankle and trauma to the muscle and soft tissue of the leg after a horrific accident outside Los Angeles.
According to the Guardian, Tiger Woods was in the hospital for a month after the accident and he said the recovery process had been tough. “This has been an entirely different animal,” Woods said of his injuries in an interview with Golf Digest. “I understand more of the rehab processes because of my past [golfing] injuries, but this was more painful than anything I have ever experienced.”
The 15-time major champion did not answer a question about whether he hopes to play professional golf again. Tiger had been plagued by back injuries later in his career, even before February’s crash. The accident where he fractured his right leg with two open fractures.
I’m convinced that after Tiger recovers fully from his latest accident he will come back stronger and increase his ace telly.
Who holds the record for the most Hole in ones?
On the armature level An article from Vault by Kelli Anderson dated Sep 5, 1988, “stated that Norman Manley holds the record for 59 Hole in ones from 1963 to 1983 noted he was never a Professional Golfer as back in the day the cost to become pro was high and the pay-out was not the same as today.”
On the Professional level, according to Golf,” it will be Mancil Davis with a total of 51 Hole in- ones from 1966 to 2007”. According to Golfweek,” The legend Davis “except of course for his putter, sand wedge, and a pitching wedge. has made an Ace with every club in his bag. His shortest ace was made from 124 yards away while his longest one was made from 379 yards”
Who made the most Aces in one round?
According to SportsCasting, “The odds of making an ace in your lifetime is 12,000 to 1. For PGA Tour players, it’s less because all the practice drops to 3,000 to 1. But when you throw in another hole in one in the same round, the odds even for the pro’s shoot up to 67 million to 1.”
You have a better chance of winning the lotto twice in your life than making two holes in one in a single round. The ace shot might be the hardest to achieve in all sports. “Amazingly, three professional golfers’ players have recorded two aces on the PGA Tour in the same round. How’s that for 67 million to 1?”
In 1955, Bill Whedon played in the Insurance City Open at Wethersfield Country Club and accomplished the feat in the first round. He aced the fifth hole 168-yard, then did it again at the ninth from 208-yard. While most golfers never make a hole in one in their life, Whedon made two aces in one hour that day.
51 years later we saw another round with two holes in one on the PGA Tour in 2006. In the second round of the Reno-Tahoe Open at Montreux Golf and Country Club, Yusaku Miyazato made two aces on the seventh hole from 230-yard and the 12th from 173-yard.
Left-handed Brian Harman accomplished this amazing 2 ace record Nine years later, in the fourth round of The Barclays at Plainfield Country Club. Harman aced the third hole and the 14th hole, making history in the process.
Final thoughts
My conclusion is that although Tiger got his first hole in one at the age of 8 and the 20th one at 46 after 20 years of dryness, he is still going to make a comeback and surprise us all with his brilliant playing game and hopefully join the only three professionals who made more than one hole in one in a game to add to his long list of achievements.
Hopefully, you will get your one day, unless you are fortunate enough to already have scored an ace.
